Ada Lovelace

Mathematician, pioneer of computing
1953 Your 1843 notes on the Analytical Engine, forgotten for a century, are republished by B. V. Bowden in "Faster Than Thought". Engineers building the very first computers rediscover them.
1980 The United States Department of Defense names a new programming language after you: Ada. Generations of engineers will learn it without always knowing why it carries that name.
2009 The first "Ada Lovelace Day" gathers, in your name, women from around the world working in science and technology. It has been held every year since.
2015 For the two-hundredth anniversary of your birth, a Google doodle honours you on home pages around the world, for one day.
